Nassau County Store Owner Charged With Selling Vaping Products To Minor

A Long Island store owner is facing charges for allegedly selling vaping products to minors during an undercover sting operation, police said.

As part of the Nassau County Police Department’s “Project 21” initiative - which targets the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to minors - conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 14, a store owner in Massapequa was arrested.

East Meadow resident Asheshkumar Patel, 54, was taken into custody at approximately 7:20 p.m. on Tuesday at the KPPS Smoke Shop in Massapequa after he allegedly sold vaping products to minors.

According to police, investigators utilized underage agents to target businesses selling vaping products.

Patel was issued an appearance ticket and charged with the sale of age-restricted products to a minor. He is scheduled to appear in First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, Jan. 27.
